Latinos in Houston! Do you feel safe going to Dia de los Muertos festivities throughout the city?

I was born in Venezuela, raised in Houston since age 7, became a US citizen like 15 years ago and I Consider Houston my home. I'm trying to enjoy SOME things in this hellscape that is the US right now and saw the Dia de los Muertos parade and other events going on this weekend throughout the city. Can't help but think about ICE posting up and harassing/kidnapping people at those events like they have been all over the country. I'm constantly checking on my parents and relatives, making sure they have their passports on them at all times, telling them where ICE agents have been spotted, etc. because we've all seen the videos of even documented people being harassed and detained. Racial profiling is literally their main tool.

So, are these Latino, specifically Mexican, cultural events just happening like normal? How do you feel safe there with your family? Are they just meant for everyone else to enjoy except the actual makers of that culture? How does the city of Houston reconcile advertising for these cultural events in the most diverse city in the nation when the people of that culture are being persecuted and their safety is not guaranteed?

Please be respectful and humane.
