Landry Locker’s theory on why compensation changed
He believes that once the Browns were told they were no longer in contention they went back to Watson’s team without going through Nick and negotiated that massive contract.
They could be considered tampering. It’s a grey area. Texans Cap also believes this is what happened.
So, Nick went back and said that additional compensation was needed for their “unethical” actions.
The NFL could actually investigate it if a complaint was brought up, but since it doesn’t look like we are going to do that since we got the additional compensation the Browns are likely in the clear. We’ll see if that changes.
