Lake Jackson crime rate?

Am considering a move to Lake Jackson, was surprised to see more than a couple of recent reviews on multiple apartment complexes mentioning shootings (2 reviews) and breakins/attempted breakins (auto and home, 5+ independent reviews on three different properties). All of these were written within the last year.

Wondering if anybody from the area could help me calibrate. Has there been a recent uptick in crime? I spent years in Indianapolis, in areas with higher crime rate than LJ by the data, and I’m no stranger to having my windows broken out, but was still surprised by the number of reviews mentioning violent crime and property crime.
