Kinda new to the city; DJ scene?

I DJ’d a whole for a pretty popular spot in college (Top 40; Dance; Hip Hop) I’m wanting to get into the scene here but I’ve been unsuccessful so far. I did the whole bar hop with business cards thing (I even had stickers) but got basically no callbacks from owners and managers who seemed to be open to hiring me (but I guess not)

Any ideas on how to get started?
