Kidney Transplant Program

My father (65yo) is in the Baylor St Luke’s Kidney Transplant Program in the med center. His nephrologist’s practice is associated with main Methodist and works with either St Luke’s or Methodist transplant team. His nephrologist in the practice works with only the St Luke’s team, so that’s the reasoning behind his choice to join the St Luke’s program. He is not currently on dialysis yet but his labs aren’t great, which is the reason he’s been put in the program.

Throughout the screening process with St Luke’s, he’s been assigned almost a dozen coordinators who continue to change, and family members who have called the donor line have never received calls back. Now the coordinators have told him and his nephrologist he has a donor, except he isn’t even on the transplant list yet (not cleared due to cardiology). The coordinators previously explained that potential donors won’t be tested until he’s on the list due to insurance. No one has been able to confirm if he actually has a donor or not. All of it is extremely concerning and we’re starting to question the quality of the program itself.

Does anyone have an experiences with St Luke’s or Methodist kidney transplant teams? I appreciate any feedback you are willing to give.
