Kid transportation issue

I’ve posted here a few times trying to work out my relocation from a small town to Houston. My current issue is transportation for my 9 year old son to get back and forth to school. I’m a nurse and will be working strict hours. And I just found out the school we are zoned for is less than 2 miles away so the district does not provide bus service in my neighborhood. I don’t feel comfortable allowing him to walk..

what does everyone else do with their kids in this type of situation?
