Katy-based US Silica to go private in $1.85 billion deal with Apollo

Funds managed by affiliates of New York-based Apollo Global Management Inc. (NYSE: APO) will acquire Katy-based U.S. Silica Holdings Inc. (NYSE: SLCA), a 124-year-old industrial minerals company and last-mile logistics provider to the oil and gas industry.
