I've been diving into some NFL data lately and wanted to come up with some unique ways to look at rushing stats. The main thing that I think is interesting about this graphic is the gaps….left end, left tackle etc. Right end meaning the run was to the right of the RT, right tackle meaning the gap between the RT and the RG etc. Each bar height is based on the number of rushes to that specific segment, with the standard data (attempts, yards and avg.) inside the bar. The color coding is based on EPA per play……orange is above average, blue is below average. It's a gradient scale, meaning the colors get darker the more below or above average the running is in that specific area.

What a season opening game from Mixon. Some people (me at least) were assuming he was on the downswing after 7 years of mostly hard use in Cincinnati. At least for 1 game, I couldn't have been more wrong. Lots of dark orange (good) on Mixon's chart. Those runs to the far left are definitely intriguing…..looks like Mixon is enjoying following Tunsil out that direction.

I'm learning how to code this on the fly so any suggestions/thoughts/requests are welcome.
