Jobs without a degree with room for advancement.

My brother lives in Houston. He’s mid 20s with some college but did not finish with a degree. He’s having a baby soon. I want to show him there are options for great careers with room for advancement, good pay/benefits, have stability, and could offer him and his new family more opportunities in life. Right now he’s a server, but he wants more and like many young people lacks knowledge of where to even start to narrow down a future career. I’m his dreams he was always going to play pro basketball ;). He is quite fit and able bodied. We discussed firefighting, as our dad was a fireman and he expressed he wasn’t really interested in such a labor intensive job. What are some great careers to get into that don’t require a degree, but could require on the job training or trade school?
