Jeremy Pena Batting Second
| |
Jeremy Pena has had a lackluster career in the regular season. This is evidenced by his .247/.292/.404 career line and 94 OPS+. During the past 2 months, he's batting just .224/.286/.293 and his wRC+ sits at 62. This is 38% below league average. I am also posting his percentile rankings per baseball savant. Altogether, it really baffles me that he continues to bat second despite poor on-base skills and an abysmal batted ball profile. Is anyone else annoyed that he continually gets the opportunity to break out of this? Why does he have a much longer leash than Corey Julks? I understand that Dusty Baker wants to instill confidence in his players, but a lineup where Pena bats ninth in front of Altuve, Tucker/McCormick, Bregman, Alvarez seems much more beneficial than having a seemingly automatic out in the 2-hole night after night. submitted by /u/Carews-Brews-37 |
