Jays fan living in Texas
Diehard Jays fan who has been living in Austin for the past decade. Every year when they roll into town I make the trip to Minute Maid and always have a blast. I've never had a single negative experience with 'stros fans. We always end up shooting the s**t with the fans around us with the game ending in handshakes, high-fives and on more than one occasion, some hugs. Anyone I chat with here in Austin who tells me they are an Astros fan (and there are a lot of them) hear me parrot this sentiment. The same can't be said for my experiences at Yankee Stadium but that's a different story.
Y'alls loyalty to George is truly something special. The guy is the fiercest competitor i've ever seen. In interviews with players after the big W last night, George was mentioned over and over again, cited as the team leader whose intensity and vision became infectious. Without George we aren't making the playoffs, forget the WS.
The fact that haters only want to focus 2017 says more about them than it does about GS especially with the overwhelming evidence pointing to NY and Boston doing the same s**t. The league just needed a scapegoat.
But here's the thing, anyone who has actually played high-level competitive ball knows that you're always looking for an advantage, an angle, and edge. Given that all these teams were exploiting a loophole, made it a systems problem not a "cheaters" thing and ill go to my grave thinking that. Also, people shitting on George and cheering his injury, guaranteed, have never played higher than little league or maybe a weekend beer league. Buncha stats nerds who talk with authority about the game and the "culture" but have never really stepped between the lines and probably throw a ball like my step niece with spina bifida.
Not gonna lie, when George dropped dick last night in the 7th, I cried happy elephant tears. The love I have for that man is off the charts.
