Jaylon Johnson
Watched almost every Utah game past two years. Jaylon Johnson is an incredibly smart player. Of the three best cornerbacks left (Lamar Jackson, Trevon Diggs, Jaylon Johnson) he is the worst athlete, but he is imo the best cornerback.
Very smart, watch his tape against USC. He gets toasted in tight coverage for a TD, but he doesn't let it happen again. USC has very talented WRs, and he managed to avoid being toasted again. Learned his outside stutters and shut it down for the rest of the game.
He jumps routes, reminds me of Marcus Peter in that way. He hangs back and takes good angles towards the receiver / ball.
He follows the receivers around. He's a true man corner. He tracks and he shuts down.
Strengths: good instinct, smart, knows where the balls going, plays with control.
Weaknesses. Sometimes struggles with straight line speed down the field. Gets stuck a step behind and can't keep up. Hips can be stiff when turning around in coverage. Can get beaten on short in routes. Needs to improve his tackling.
Great pick at #40. I hope he's there and we take him. I have him and Diggs at about the same so hopefully we get one of them.
