J.C. Penney closing 154 stores, including 7 in Texas

J.C. Penney Co. Inc. (NYSE: JCP), one of a handful of struggling retail chains that filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, will shutter seven stores in Texas as part of a broad restructuring plan.

The Plano, Texas-based retailer on June 4 released the list of 154 stores it plans to shutter in the first wave of closings; more are expected in the coming weeks, CNBC reports.
