I’ve learned that the “Don’t be scared, be prepared” motto is important.
I watch a lot of severe weather streaming on YouTube, and had a radar app that showed this sucker was coming. I’m in memorial near 610, and some of our streetlights were blown off. I had a bunch of alerts from weather apps on my phone telling me it was coming, so, even though I’m in a safe space, I did what I’ve learned mostly via Ryan Hall, Y’all’s channel. -I got myself at the pets into the most interior room, which was the master closet. -Brought my computer and phone with backup charger for when the power went out, so I could use my phone as a hotspot for wifi – Got rug burn chasing one of the cats after he escaped to go under the bed. – Got my purse, meds, and anything else important I could need. – I have a large LED flashlight that extends into what’s essentially a lantern, for lack of a better word. Highly recommend. – If you’ve taken shelter in a home, make sure to bring a pair of closed toed shoes in with you, in case you have to walk across broken glass from windows.
Stay safe out there everyone! Hopefully we won’t have any more problems like this. May power be with you soon!!
Edit: The guys out there working so hard to get the power back on and the streets cleared have been incredible. I have so much respect for them, and deservedly so. I hope the city really recognizes all of the hard work they’ve done.
