It is hard finding a job in Houston
I am 27, have a BSc in psychology, currently looking for a new job that pays at least 50k-60k. I currently am working in a mental health clinic in Houston grossing about 42,500k. The pay is not enough as I have had to get a second side hustle writing reports for a friend's private practice at about 200 a month.
I have experience in the field managing felons in Harris County probation, working with psychological assessments, have presented in conferences, published a chapter in a textbook with a professor, and have the CEO of my current job listed as a reference.
and yet, I can not find a job that will call me back. I am currently enrolled in grad school, pursuing an LPC licensure program.
Anyone know of any job opportunities in the area? Advice?
Edit: I want to stress that yes, I did research salaries before starting my major and when I started college in 2018, 40k-50k seemed fine to me. The cost of living has gone way too high. I also saw that a lot of my peers in undergrad struggled to find work due to having no experience when graduating. I volunteered for years with the homeless population, worked part-time at Crisis Intervention of Houston, and published research before graduating. With all my networking experience, I am still in the same boat as someone who simply went to class and go home. This is awful.
