Is this normal for AC

New build, wife is saying this is normal but I feel like it’s not. House faces east west and there’s no tree cover on the west. Afternoons the AC is literally incapable of cooking and the temperature will rise from 73 to 78 and only start to decline after 10pm. Is this just a function of the sun heating the house too much and the AC only able to cook roughly 20 degrees of the outside. Lived here my whole life but f**k this summer has been brutal already.
