Is there a trend of buying houses without inspection?

I know right now with the current housing market(for the past yr) in California that sellers were selling their homes as is. No inspection. Take it or leave it. Yet people were still buying like crazy without one. Not sure if it is like this in Houston with the hot real estate market over the past couple years. Are most buyers still demanding an inspection before buying a house?
