Is there a reason Houston has been moving bus stops across the street?
Over the last two years on Westheimer I've noticed Houston has moved some bus stops across the street. Is there a reason for this? It just seems to slow the buses down and interrupt traffic. Now you have a situation where the bus stops at the light but isn't picking up passengers. So stops cars from making a right turn at the light. It then crosses the street and immediately stops at the new bus stop. This then stops the flow of traffic in the right lane as cars have to stop behind the bus or drive around it, immediately after the light turns green. Finally it creates a situation where the buss has to stop twice in a 200 foot distance. Once at the light and again at the stop across the street.
What exactly is the benefit of this to outweigh all of these negative consequences?
