Is there a Jonathan Gold equivalent in Houston?

I understand Houston to be similar to LA in the sense that it's a spread out city with communities of extraordinary cultural density that are worth supporting and exploring. Jonathan Gold was an inimitable writer who focused on LA's suburban food culture. Is there anyone in Houston who is eating and exploring and writing in a similar vein?
