Is the rent more expensive during the summer months?

Looking to move in August since that is when my lease is up. I've seen a few apartments in my price range that I like. But I heard that usually in the summer months the rent increase 15%-20%. A place renting for $1000/mo now might be $1200/mo in August. Is that the case from your experience?
