Is southeast Houston getting any better?

I'm house searching right now and I've noticed some new pop-ups particularly in the South Park area of Houston. I would plan on being there a while and I make good income but I'm getting mixed reviews on whether its still really dangerous or if its seeing improvements. Currently I live in Greenspoint so I somewhat feel I can only go up from here.
