Is Pete Alonso much better than Jon Singleton?

Alonso’s slashing .241/.321/.451 — Singleton is .245/.336/.364… Alonso’s fielding % is .995, Singleton’s is .993… Alonso’s wRC+ is a good bit better (119 vs. 103), but he also has far more plate appearances and Singleton is hitting much better now that he is getting consistent playing time. Just wondering if it makes sense to pay for Alonso when SP is the more obvious need.
