Is leaving the trashcan out on non trash collection day illegal?

I live in a house on a small street. I have to be out of town for a while but cannot wait to empty my trashcan until the next pickup after I come back since it is sooooo full. I am planning to leave it out for collection during my entire leave. Is that illegal? My neighborhood doesn't have a HOA btw.
