Is it reliable to use a comparison app for car insurance?

Hi! So I’m kind of new to Houston and I’m planning on buying a car (used) and I want to look for options as I have no idea about which car insurances are good (I’m new to the country as well).

I looked at this app called Root and it seems to give you a lot of different insurances to compare.

Are they any specific ones you can recommend me? I’m looking for the most basic/cheapest possible. TIA
