Is it ever possible to see a doctor and get a test/imaging done in the same day in Houston area?

If you have abnormality in your health, which is not life threatening or urgent, and you would like to see a speciality doctor and diagnose the cause by doing some blood work, or imaging like MRI, ultrasound B or Xray or CT scan etc. Typically you will find a doctor to make an appoiintment, which could be at least in a couple weeks. Then you see the doctor who prescribe you an imaging order of,e.g., MRI. Then you make an appointment to do the MRI, which could be in another couple weeks. And we come back to follow up with the doctor in another a couple weeks. We are talking about a couple months aleast.

Why does everybody put up with such slow medical service model in the US? We have so many world class hospitals here in Houston Medical center. Is there a way for me to see a doctor in one of the hospitals in TMC and get whatever imaging done and the doctor can review the results with you on the same day or next day? Sort of what they can do in an ER, but with a normal medical bill.

Any suggestions? I heard Kaiser Permanente in CA kinda of allow you to do that on the same day. Is this even possible in Houston?
