Is it easy to find a job in Houston, TX?

I'm thinking about moving to Houston, TX. I'm wondering if it's easy to find a job there. Houston looks like such a wonderful city with super friendly and kind people, kind and courteous drivers, and seems so loving. With this said, is it easier to find a job there than most big cities? Is it also super competitive or can anyone get a job? I'm talking about a basic retail job or hotel job, nothing super specialized. I'm thinking about just renting a room in Houston and rebuilding my life there. I don't feel like I'm happy where I'm at, and nobody wants to give me a chance here. I bet Houston will be less stressful and people will be much happier and so kind. I'm thinking about Sugar Land or Katy, as far from those refineries as possible. Even The Woodlands seems so down to earth too as well as Conroe and Kingwood. Anyways, I just need to know, is Houston super competitive or is it easy to land a decent full time job with benefits there?
