Is Houston anything like Austin? Looking to reinvent myself and to start fresh.

Hey, I’m 32M. Retired vet, with stable income. Going through a divorce, currently and I’m looking to get a fresh start. I’m currently living in New England and I’m sick to death of the cold.

I met my wife in Austin before we moved up here and I fell in love with the vibe in Austin. I loved the art culture, the progressiveness and the “weirdness”. I’m pretty heavily tattooed myself (head to toe) and I felt like I fit right in.

Unfortunately I cannot afford a house there with my income. What’s the general vibe in Houston? Are people judgmental, is there an art scene, how’s the food scene? How does it compare to Austin?

Yes I know it’s hot and humid, I thrive in the heat and so does my little dog. Thanks for any replies
