Is having a pool worth it in Houston?

For those that have a pool: is it worth it? Just my thoughts:

Cons:

• Maintenance cost
• Real estate cost (purchase price + yearly tax)
• Liability (increased insurance cost possibly?)
• Not pleasant to use a pool during the cold winter season (Nov – Feb)
• Apparently, not even pleasant to use during the super hot summer season (Aug – Sep) because it feels like hot soup
• Rainy days

Pros:

• So that just leaves a portion of the warm fall, spring, and early summer seasons to use the pool (Oct) + (Mar – Jul). I’m guessing about 30-40% of the year the pool is actually usable

Are my estimates about right? Anything I’m missing? Seems like it might not actually be worth it in Houston to own a pool due to the poor weather conditions
