Is Firing our GM a positive?

Who would we replace Nick with? Will his replacement draft better OL? Can we develop OL? Will we keep drafting good defensive players? Will replacing the GM mean replacing the coach? Essentially, how certain are all the fire him voices that doing so will change anything? And are people patient enough to wait 3-5 years to see a real shift if we hire the right guy?
