Is cypress station really that bad?

Im staying at the Hampton inn there for like 5 days, but people are saying not to because of how dangerous it is.. Will i really be mugged while walking from my car in the hotel parking lot to the hotel entrance at night? Or maybe going to a nearby restaurant to eat during the daytime?
