As someone who wasn’t alive to see the 80s nor had any family here that lived at the time, I seem to be fascinated by many Houston stories going on at this time. Examples

The 80s oil crash that had a led to a local recession

The rise of Compaq during the personal computer revolution

Continental Airlines establishes its hub at IAH

1981, Houston was the murder capital of the US and had its record year in homicides

ZZ Top was at its peak

Many of Houston’s tallest buildings (including the tallest in JPMorgan Tower) opened during this time

The ups and downs of this decade are mind blowing. Anything else worth noting?
