Inner loop: is it better to rent a home or apartment?

Pros of a home: more space, maybe a small backyard, maybe a garage, “on your own”

Pros of an apt: many amenities like pool and gym bundled into your rent price

Safety of your belongings seems like it similar in both options.

Just curious to hear some opinions on what people like.
