Inefficient bus stops

I rode the 249 bus in downtown this past week and noticed that there is a stop every 1-2 blocks for the same bus. I don’t understand. Wouldn’t it shorten the ride time if they just consolidated these ten stops into maybe four? Walking an extra block or two wouldn’t be terrible methinks.

I’ve also been on buses in other cities and they’re equally with I feel like too many stops.
