In your opinion, which organization or charity does the most hands on work with veterans?

I'm interested in finding an organization that would offer an opportunity to actively make a difference in people's lives whether it's helping with the construction of a home, organizing projects and resources for the organization, or simply talking to people who might be struggling with demons and just need to vent. Most of the opportunities I have come across so far and for the fundraising office and I'd prefer to not sit and cold call people for donations.
