I’m so lonely, how do I make friends in this city?
I want to preface by saying I KNOW this has been posted all over this sub.
I recently got a job in Houston, leaving all my friends and splitting with my gf of over 3 years in the process. Now I live alone, and outside of one coworker, have no one to hang out with. I'm so lonely!
I feel like I've tried everything. I went to the food bank to volunteer, a run club, hung out at my apartment pool and even went out with someone I met on Bumble BFF. But I'm 22, everyone I encounter seems so old and I feel so left out.
Does anyone have any suggestions for things I can try? I'm really open to anything. I'm inside the loop, but I'll drive if it means meeting people my age. I'm losing my mind and really down for whatever. I like being outdoors, I like sports and I'm open to joining a gym if it has classes where people my age go (my therapist suggested O Athletik but I checked their website and saw most of the classes have less than 5 sign ups… I'd rather find somewhere with a bit more people if possible, especially if it costs money lol). I also love video games, reading and am totally open to volunteering or even trying something completely new.
I'd love to try volleyball/pickleball or something like that, but going alone to a place where people show up in pairs feels like just another way to be the odd man out.
Any suggestions? Please help a boy out
Edit: I also feel like I should mention Monday and Tuesday nights are bad for me because of my job!
