I’m picking up my new license plate, do I need to get my truck inspected?

Long story short, someone rear ended me and it destroyed my license plate so I ordered a new vanity plate. I have to pick it up at the Tax assessors office but they said they're going to be renewing my registration. If they're renewing my registration, does that mean I need to have already had my truck inspected? I only have 2 months left on the sticker so it's not a big deal, but if I don't need to do it now I'll wait.
