I’m concerned about the number of police officers available to respond.
I was just listening to the iPhone scanner app for Houston:All Districts. They had a person down in the street. There were three separate callers saying the person was bleeding heavily out of the eye and the eye was actually missing. The callers didn’t know if he had been stabbed or shot in the eye.
The police didn’t have anyone to respond. The dispatcher had to call out to the supervisor to see if someone at the station could go. The supervisor said said she would. A car did come available BUT this was a code one (highest priority) and it took way to long to find someone to respond.
I am hearing this more and more. Code three, four, and fives are getting no love. While usually just noise complaints or minor thefts, unanswered these things can escalate. And now they are slow to code twos and ones.
Why is there not voter outcry about police funding and operation? It seems Houston is resigned to be the Killing Field of 2022.
If someone is out there removing eyes, I would like to think law enforcement is on it. My loved ones are all in Houston and I cringe thinking they now have a higher probability of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
