I’ll try to keep my opinion to myself and give statistics on this hit.

I’m pretty sure someone can get the exact millisecond count if you were really interested. BUT this is enough to get this point across. These frames show that within less than 1 second of time Lawrence goes from full stride to concussion. Unfortunate. Taking the human factor and emotions out of the conversation. Let’s talk statistics. Depending on agility metrics, cognitive + neuromuscular reaction time, angle of decided change of direction. The fastest elite athletes can alter their motion within 400-700 ms which means exponentially then logarithmically approaching that new trajectory not instantly approaching it. Not to mention how long the actual thought process (choice reaction time of 300-500 ms) of deciding hey I need to do my job and stop this first down. Physics would have it that if you just stand still , opposing force will send you backwards due to conservation of motion. So he has to not just match but overcome Lawrence’s force (mass x acceleration) by one of two options. One being much heavier or two much faster or a mixture of both that will yield his force greater than Lawrence. This will ensure he sends 100% of contact mass in the opposite direction (short of the marker). That’s what his professional athlete brain did in a reasonable amount of time. it guessed which direction to initiate a tackle and went for center mass. And within 1000 ms contact occurred. So let’s say 1000 ms total from the point he decides to tackle and in what direction which I’m also assuming is the same time Lawrence takes his last full stride before he starts to drop. Also they are going at each other so time is halved for these considerations. Think of it like this if you and a friend from different city’s are 4 hrs apart and meeting up half way it would take 2 hours to “collide” … so now his total time is 500 ms Subtract 400 ms for average athlete choice reaction time and al- shaair has 100 ms to alter his motion. Not going to happen. submitted by /u/Spiritual-Prune-4835 |
