If you’re a server/bartender and are looking for a job DO NOT apply at Blanco’s tacos+tequila in the Galleria!

LONG RANT the money is awful but the management is the worst I have ever had to work for and I’ve been in the industry a long time. The GM is an absolute nightmare. You can’t make a living there because she will not allow you to work overtime because it means less money in her bonus at the end of the year. If you’re close to OT, she will try to get you to clock out as soon as possible but will be there 7 days a week 14 hours a day even when she’s COVID+ (but we can’t work if we’re covid + or even say we have a stomach ache because it “could” be covid which rightly so, it’s just the fact that she worked while she had covid) because only she can reap the benefits of OT. and the since it’s the galleria, people hardly tip at all. The GM also will withhold money from you even if they’re is in the wrong.

example: one day a bartender counted their drawer before their shift and the person they promoted to management fucked up the night before splitting tips and fucked up the drawer count and the GM withheld the bartenders money because it was either going to come out of their tips until the bartender could pay back the money or would get written up and when the money issue was resolved and was found to be at fault of the management, the GM never even apologized.

One day while trying to make small talk I told her “Thank god this contract party has autograt” and she said “you can give me the tip” and uncomfortably i said “haha, isn’t that illegal tho?” and she said “Nope not unless you consent to it.” which I’m pretty sure still makes it illegal.

One day we were talking about how we made out in tips the night before and she walked into the back where we were and told us “Don’t talk about how much money you make! Go find something to do!”

One day a coworker found out his friend had just died in an accident so another coworker told them to go sit down in the back and they’d finish opening and the GM got in the coworkers face and told them “YOU DONT GET TO TELL PEOPLE WHEN THEY CAN GO SIT DOWN THAT IS MY JOB NOT YOURS! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!” that person ended up walking out on that shift because of the GM.

She told a coworker until they move their car to the parking garage from the parking lot, she won’t let them clock in yet the GM parks in the front parking lot herself. We have our tips on us and we don’t feel comfortable walking with our aprons on at night to the parking garage by ourselves because lord knows security at the mall won’t save us if we were to get attacked.

One coworker takes a bus and got there 10 minutes early and she yelled at them not to clock in until their clock in time and followed them around the restaurant to make sure they didn’t clock on until they were supposed to. why? they were close to over time.

She will disrespect you and retaliate against you if she hears that you want to make a complaint or have complained to HR about her/the perverted head chefs conduct. She threatens to not give you tips if tables walk out on their ticket. Everyone who has quit there whether it be managers, back of the house, or front of the house have all stated she is the reason why they quit.

The head chef and other kitchen managers are perverts. They’re always trying to touch the female staff and make piggish comments about female customers.

example: one day I was bending over to put cups away and one of the managers said “your victoria’s secret is out.” I said “What?” “Your red thong is out.”

mind you, my shirt was tucked into my jeans and I wasn’t even wearing red underwear that day.

Another bartender was pregnant and the head chef was saying how “it’s my baby. That’s my baby in there.” and would call up the restaurant when they were off to try and talk to that bartender. The district manager caught wind of this and was going to fire him but the bartender told the district manager she didn’t want this to turn into a whole thing she just wanted to be left alone and from then on the head chef has treated her like s**t.

The general manager will also bully and target female employees until they quit. If a new manager tries to start working there, she will do the same thing; intimidate until they quit so she can’t be overruled. Everyone there has to walk on eggshells or else she threatens to fire them and reminds them how they can be replaced.

She is always cutting corners on costs because her and the head chef only cares about their bonus at the end of the year.

She treats her staff incredibly poorly and the money there sucks so if you’re looking for a job do not, i cannot stress this enough DO NOT work at Blancos tacos in the galleria.
