If anyone happens to have video of the red light runner at Blossom and Shepherd around 8:25am, please dm me.
On my way to drop my 3yr old off at school and had just gone through the green light at Blossom and Durham. As I crossed Shepherd, there were about 2-3 cars waiting for the light in the lanes closest to me. About to make it through the intersection and just happened to notice a car (Volvo, grey color I think?) flying through on the outside, and missed them by what seemed like a few inches – incredibly thankful my cars brakes have the response time that they do.
I know quality of driving has become a bit of a meme for this city, but something really needs to be done at this point and it shouldn't be on the heels of someone being killed that HPD/Whitmire decide to get their act together. Whitmire says that the city broke – traffic fines seems like a really easy way to pluck some low hanging fruit, as it's not just the paper plate mazdas that are pulling this s**t. If people don't want to pay the fine, impound the car and sell it at auction. if HPD can't spare at least one officer to start handing out tickets because "We'Re FoCuSeD oN ViOlEnT cRiMe", the city should light a fire under the ass of the constables to do so.
