IAH hotel and other recommendations for a day and a half in the Houston area?

Hey everyone!

My wife (30), daughter (3), and I will be returning from our cruise out of Galveston this December on a Sunday. We will visit the NASA Houston Center after we disembark the cruise as part of an excursion and then will be dropped off at IAH at about 2 PM. Our flight home will be out of IAH the following day at 7:30 PM.

Any recommendations (where to stay, what to do, etc.) for a family-friendly day and a half in the Houston area?

After looking around, I thought the Woodland's Resort seemed like a decent option due to the water park and golf, but I would love some input from all of you! Additionally, any BBQ recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
