I saw a BYD car last week in the Med Center area

No, it wasn’t being driven by a YouTuber or journalist, and it wasn’t being filmed. A man, probably in his 60s, was behind the wheel, with a woman I assume was his wife. I can’t remember if I noticed Texas plates or any American plates at all. It just seemed like he was casually driving to work in the morning. I was honestly surprised, wondering what was going on. I haven’t kept up with the news recently, so maybe I missed something? How did it get here? Is it even legal to drive that?!

For those who don’t know, BYD (Build Your Dreams) is currently the number one electric car maker in the world, or maybe number two, and it’s a Chinese brand. The US government imposed a 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles because of how competitive and affordable they are. The official reason given was to “protect the domestic car industry.”
