I love Houston and Texas in general but hate the Labor Laws

Recently last week I started working as a welder for a company. First day there, a guy working with me starts talking about how he loves working there because he gets paid extremely well compared to his last job. I casually ask “if you don’t mind me asking how much do you make here”. He told me he couldn’t discuss it with me, and I didn’t push it any further. At the end of my shift, I was let go for discussing my pay with other employees which they apparently have a zero tolerance policy for in place. I tried googling it but apparently there’s nothing I can do because Texas is a “fire at will state” which means I can be fired for whatever reason legally
