I know the sub is tired of ‘it’s the first two weeks’ takes but it is the first two weeks
I'm frustrated like the rest of you and share all of the same concerns. The start to this season is looking disturbingly similar to the entirety of last season. CJ not exuding confidence, the o-line being THE problem, spotty tight end play, the defense being high aggression but struggling with fundamentals like wrapping up the tackle.
All that said, we're literally two plays from a 2-0 start. Dare fumbling against the Rams and Henry missing the tackle on Baker are the two plays you can point to specifically that ended our games. And these mistakes were against two of the top 4 contenders for the Super Bowl in the NFC (imo of course).
What I'm having to remind myself is that a lot of this looks the same because it is the same and that's to be expected at the start of the season. The offensive line is inarguably worse than last year from a talent perspective and our run game is struggling. While I don't think the line will ever stop being a problem this year, I do think it will improve. I believe Caley had his first two games against two Super Bowl caliber teams and will get better as the season progresses. I think that the run game will get figured out because both Chubb and Woody have looked pretty good to start the year.
Lastly, I think those things improving will get CJ his composure back. Regardless of how you feel about his demeanor these games, we all know he can play at level that elevates the team. We saw it his rookie year and at times last year.
And I'm just not worried about the defense. Demeco will get those guys together. Hang in there boys, it'll get better.
