I just came back from cleaning up Discovery Green

My friends and I got inspired by the Minneapolis citizens cleaning up their city after protests, so we went out to Downtown around 7AM to help clean up. I was glad we went! We got around seven or eight large trash baggies worth of stuff. The City workers came by and told us the clean up effort helps them a lot. They had done most of the work already, but there still were things like debris from knocked over trash cans and some stray garbage (including masks, cardboard signs, rubber gloves, and lots and lots of water bottles). If you want to do something similar here’s what I recommend bringing: – gloves: I layered surgical gloves inside longer garden gloves – long tongs or grabber tools: you can find them at a local hardware store for $10-20 – large trash bags

For yourself: – water for hydration – hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes to clean your tools afterwards – coins or credit card for street parking

Parking: I easily found street parking right by discovery green after failing to find any near city hall. Street parking near AMC downtown on Smith prohibits parking between 7-9AM.
