I hear a lot of negatives about Houston, what are some positives about living near there?

As the title reads, most of what I read are negatives about living in or around Houston.

Drivers, Flooding, Hurricanes, Property Taxes, Property Insurance rates, etc etc.

I close on a house in 11 days Northeast of Houston and I'd love to hear some personal experiences as to the positives of living around the city?
