I had a fantastic outing in Houston today.

So I've mostly avoided Houston since I moved here because parking and traffic are such a s**t show the few times i've had to go there but my mother and I decided to finally go check out the natural history museum.
Me and literally at least 100 other cars full of people circled in a wider and wider arc around the museum for 2 hours looking for a parking spot. The small museum garage was full, the park parking lot was full, every other pay garage for 2 miles was full every neighborhood was full. After over two hours of this we along with everybody else clogging up the area gave up and drove back home because my 78 year old mother can't walk 4 miles to a museum and we wouldn't have enough time for it anyways. It didn't even look like there were that many people out. There's just no parking.

Has Houston ever heard of a city planner? Is there some insiders secret of how to do things in Houston, a city with seemingly next to zero infrastructure for transportation but also sometimes impossible to use a car in?
