I feel like leaving

So, I live up in Spring. Recently bought a home to live near family. I’m lucky. I’ve been staying with some friends who have a generator, but the lack of infrastructure in this city is puzzlingly, nauseating, and quite frankly an embarrassment.

After being told by a family member today to just, “Get a generator,” I’m thinking about moving out of Houston permanently. I’ve lived here all my life, from the cradle until now, and I never thought I’d have to say this but after having my childhood home flood in Allison, water damage to my apartment with Harvey, and now this, I think it is time to move on. I have a job where I can work remotely anywhere so maybe it is time to take advantage of that.

The question is where on earth would I go?
