Hypnosis in Houston
How is our subconscious mind linked to our everyday thoughts and is it possible to fast track real and lasting change through the use of Hypnosis? This is the question I am exploring in this Ask Lissy article and I invite you to join me!
We operate through our conscious mind but we live our lives according to the subconscious mind. For many people this is not a problem as the subconscious mind is not “out to get them”. However, there are many people who battle with addictions and exhibit behaviour egged on by their subconscious mind. All of that being stated, it’s simply my opinion of how the world we live in works. If you have a different opinion than the above – congrats to you my friend. I respect your opinion as much as my own.Â
Now to get back to the subject at hand…I started digging around into the subject of the subconscious mind wanting to find an answer as to why my Sub was out to get me and what I need to do in order to make sure my Sub changed course and became my best friend. It was the need to make this shift which resulted in the creation of Empower Kite. Empower Kite provides a weekly summary of a personal empowerment book (we also hold in person meetings at London Cafe on Tuesday’s at 6pm). If you are interested in joining us for one of these or all of these book reviews, check out the Facebook page for Empower Kite which will have all the info you need on what we are doing and where.
The subconscious mind is similar to a computer which you can program. It was this thought that led us to explore hypnosis as a potential fast track to reprogram the subconscious mind. I remember watching hypnosis sessions when I was younger and laughing at people who volunteered to stand in front of an audience and eat an onion or walk around like a chicken looking for food. I have left this TV experience behind me as I am now focused on learning and sharing what I know about this thing called hypnosis.
What is hypnosis?Â
Hypnosis occurs when you enter into intense focused attention. Many people refer to this as a trance and it’s similar to sleep; however, you are fully aware during the entire time of hypnosis.
We caught up with Rose Hong Klein with Southeast Hypnosis and created this video interview I would like to share with you: https://vimeo.com/643050405
Who is hypnosis good for?Â
From the research I have done on “Google”, hypnosis is good for many people facing many different problems. Hypnosis is able to help:
- Anxiety and Attention Disorders
- Weight Loss
- Quit Smoking
- Sleep Issues like Insomnia and Sleepwalking
- Chronic Pain Issues
- Abdominal Pain for those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- And a Whole Lot More
A checklist to help you determine who is the right hypnotist for you:
- Start with an understanding of what issue you want to fix. There is no right or wrong way about this initial discovery process. You might have a very long list of things/habits you must change or you might only have one focus like quitting smoking or drinking alcohol.Â
- Figure out if it matters to you whether you are working with a male or female therapist.
- How important is location to you? Do you mind driving far to see your hypnotist?Â
- Do you have any strong life convictions which you must make sure the therapist abides by? If you do, make sure to discuss with your therapist before agreeing to an appointment.Â
Is hypnosis a one time thing or do you need more than one session?
There is no hard set rule for how many sessions you will need. Make sure to discuss this with your therapist and remember to keep an open mind. The important thing to happen here is that you achieve your goal and obtain the lifestyle you are going after.Â
Should you do your hypnosis sessions in person or can you do them via Zoom?
Speak to your therapist about this and make sure that both of you are comfortable and that the session will be as effective for you regardless of it being in person or via Zoom.
What about Hypnosis Videos on YouTube, are these safe and effective?
If you ask a Professional Hypnotist this question they will tell you that working with a professional is much more effective than launching a YouTube video on the subject and trying to self treat yourself.Â
Who should not get hypnosis?
I had a conversation with Rose Hong Klein from Southeast Hypnosis and she told me that she won’t work with children under the age of five for several reasons.Â

What are the hypnosis centers in Houston and how do these stand on reviews, etc?
One of the hypnosis centers which we have experienced is Southeast Hypnosis Center in Friendswood, Texas. In full disclosure, Southeast Hypnosis Center is on the Houston City Beat Business Board and we consider the owner, Rose Hong Klein, to be a great friend. If you didn’t catch the Heart 2 Heart video interview we did with Rose, you can check it out here.
