How unsafe is Houston for visibly trans folks?

Hi all- I’ve been asked to go to Houston for a family event in a few months & im trans and anxious. Texas feels kinda unsafe and I’m not sure if it’s smart to go. I’m mostly worried about airport security, potential interactions with police (if driving for example), and figuring out the bathroom situation without being hate crimed.

I know lots of trans folks live in Texas everyday, so I’d like to hear people’s experiences and learn more about what it might be like. Does anyone have experiences to compare being visibly trans in Houston to being visibly trans in other places like the Midwest?
